Sweetness
September 6, 2010I keep a watchful eye,
Trying to see what’s going to happen.
Looking for hope, shifting
A sign of change.
Wondering what’s going to transpire next.
Who will I be? Will I change?
Is there more that I don’t see?
I wish I already had the answers.
I forget that I don’t have control
But all the time fooling myself that I do.
I am impatient, grumpy,
Why isn’t it happening NOW!
I stumble, I recover,
I start over. I backtrack a bit.
But I see clearer, I learn lessons
And am graced with patience.
Patience to wait, to see, to experience.
Hope to understand, to try, to move forward.
A glimmer gives me light to see
The next step, slowly.
Then the next one, then the next one
And more after that.
As I journey, I realize now
That each step is to be experienced
And savored because the sweetness finally comes.
The taste is all that much better
when I finally understand the plan
is taking its time to cook to perfection.
Ah, how sweet it is!
