For
those of you who are 80s music fans, you know that it was Axl Rose who
sang "All we need is just a little patience." Sometimes, even a little
patience is too much to ask.
We let doors shut behind us, we
speed by a broken down car and we get aggravated with the person behind
the cash register who is moving slow. It is more often that not we are
caught up in our own world and what we need before we think about
circumstances with others.
Patience. If only we could buy it.
We
are so used to express lanes, quick checkout, buying in advance and
early reservations that when we are presented with a situation where we
have to slow down, we are not happy.
Our lives are so chocked
full of tasks and things to do, we fill up our schedule so tight that
one little delay - traffic, price check or a customer service question
- will throw off our whole day. Tempers flair just because we don't
want to take a few extra minutes to wait.
What does that do to
you and your attitude? You walk away mad or frustrated and ruin your
next few moments (sometimes your whole day) over a delay or a
misunderstanding.
When you get in those situations, take a
breathe, relax and think to yourself, "Patience. All I have is just a
little patience." And a little will go a long way.
