In the shadows
Hides the past
The things I thought I left behind
The people who impacted me

In the shadows
Hides my clear sight
The soft hue is fuzzy and grey
The confusion sets in

The burden I no longer want to carry
But the shadows flicker with reminders

I can't seem to find you

behind that wall so high

you seem to be hiding

didn't I once see you fly?

There are others who will ground you

but I don't understand why

they may have opinions

but I hope they aren't ones you buy

You may think it's easier

to sit down and hide

but I see you as you are

my eyes are open wide

You are who you are
