The Key To Me

Posted by Mary D'Alba on Thursday, June 17, 2010, In : Poetry
Where is it?
The key that unlocks
the dreams and talents
in my heart.
That key, I've been
search for it for a while.
I looked high and low,
in other people's eyes
and the gurus and friends
I admire.
I heard many talks,
I sifted through many books,
still looking for my key.
I thought someone else had it.
One day, I hoped, someone would
put it in my hands and say
"You are ready".
So I waited, waited,
hemmed and hawed,
made excuses,
"Oh it will come one day".
Each day, I would wonder,
if today was the day
I would rece...

In The Quiet

Posted by Mary D'Alba on Saturday, June 12, 2010, In : Poetry
In the quiet
you sit with yourself
creating a path
working on a goal

In the quiet
you dream with your mind
you lead with your heart
you access your soul

In the quiet
you can move mountains
create the space for love
build a plan of action

In the quiet
you can see your full potential
you clear out the clutter
the noise just fades away

In the quiet
you realize you are a gift
your potential is great
your knowledge is vast

In the quiet
you experience your truth
you embrace your life
you reveal the bliss of yo...

Layer Upon Layer

Posted by Mary D'Alba on Monday, May 17, 2010, In : Poetry

You can't see me.

I have layer upon layer

surrounding me.

They are all different

colors, shapes and sizes,

hiding me, keeping me safe inside.

As time as gone on,

I can feel them getting heavy.

I carry them around anyway.

They get old, they fray, they tear

but I hold on to them,

these layers.

Because, well, what would happen

if you see me?

In fact, what would happen

if I actually saw myself?

I'm not sure what is underneath anymore.

As I have been hiding from you,

I have bee...

We Truly Live

Posted by Mary D'Alba on Thursday, May 13, 2010,

The sky above
The earth below
the heart in between
the spirit all around

a sweet reminder
of our place in the world
the impact we make
the ripples we send across the land

Each step we take
reminds us of our place
it is a good place
no matter where it is

So we move on
we strive forward
we honor the land, our heritage
our purpose, our contract

When we let ourselves be
just who we were meant to be
the heavens and earths open
and that's when we truly live

Just Quiet

Posted by Mary D'Alba on Friday, April 16, 2010, In : Poetry
Explore the silence.
Settle down.
No noise, no sounds.
Just quiet.
It punctuates the air.
It breathes across your skin.
It sits next to you.
It settles.
Just quiet.
What can you learn through it?
What tunnels can you explore?
What light can you see?
What truths can you not ignore?
Just quiet.
It doesn't show you anything
but what you need to see.
It connects you to your core
and your heart gets a chance to be heard.
Just quiet.
Don't fear what is to be discovered.
Turn down the ...

Look Within

Posted by Mary D'Alba on Monday, April 5, 2010, In : Poetry
Look within.
Find that sacred place,
quiet your mind,
nurture your heart.

Look within.
See your talents and strengths,
learn who you are,
create a deeper relationship with you.

Look within.
Let go of the heaviness,
brighten the dull, dark spots,
fix the tears and breaks.

Look within.
See the richness and beauty,
notice the jewels already there,
reach out and touch light and love.

Look within.
There is so much to share,
why hide it away?
Give yourself a chance
to be everythin...

Stained Glass Window

Posted by Mary D'Alba on Tuesday, March 30, 2010, In : Poetry
Who am I?
I am a collection,
a masterpiece of careful
creations and contributions.
There are so many pieces
of experiences, places, people,
I feel like a stained glass window
with many parts making up the whole.
They are colorful and
many sizes - purples, blues,
greens, and greens,
they make up a picture.
The picture of me.
So when you see me,
you see my parts as a whole.
But when you step back
and look, you'll see that
I am many things that
make up the my window.

So who are you?...

Who Do You Listen To?

Posted by Mary D'Alba on Thursday, February 25, 2010, In : Spiritual

Who do you listen to?

People on the outside and

voices that aren't yours?

Maybe they know better,

you say, how could I know?

How could you not?

What is best for you

can only be determined by you.

Misteps you have made

in the past make you believe

that you don't know what's best.

Aren't mistakes part of learning?

You grow from your mistakes,

you see diamonds in the rough,

opportunities in the challenges,

so why aren't mistakes

a part of your learning curve

while you're here?

Yes, they are no fun

but they are w...

Bye, Bye Ego

Posted by Mary D'Alba on Monday, February 8, 2010, In : Articles

Has there been a time in your life that you decided to do something different?  Finally!  You know what you want to do with your life!

And then all of a sudden -  all that fear, the doubts, the past, the things you “must do” - hold you back.  “That idea is crazy”, “Why would you do something so silly?” for example, those are the voices that tug at you, sometimes not so softly, to stop you.  And many times, they do.

What is all the muck that comes into your life to stop you from w...

Don't Fall

Posted by Mary D'Alba on Tuesday, November 24, 2009, In : Spiritual

Don't Fall
it may be easy to drop
but you can't rise up
if you head below

Don't Fall
it may be easy to stop
but you can't move forward
if you give in

Don't Fall
it may be easy to let go
but you can't achieve
if you let it beat you

Don't Fall
it may be easy to give up
but you can't make progress
if you let them win

Don't Fall
it may be easy to believe the lies
but you can't find the truth
if you buy into the words outside you

Don't Fall
fight for what's important
keep your head up
an...

When someone loves you unconditionally

Posted by Mary D'Alba on Sunday, September 6, 2009, In : Spiritual

When someone loves you unconditionally,

they see you with all your flaws

all of your fears

all of your baggage

When someone loves you unconditionally,

they have your best interest in mind

they help you find your path

they are there when the chips are down

When someone loves you unconditionally,

they make you a better person

they pick you up when you are down

they celebrate your successes, no matter big or small

When someone loves you unconditionally,

the impact on your l...

The Mask

Posted by Mary D'Alba on Tuesday, August 4, 2009, In : Spiritual

There is a mask that we show to the world. We might quite possibly have several. There is our work mask, our family mask, our friends' masks - different sizes, shapes, construction, moldings. We create them to place over the softness and vulnerable sides of ourselves - our true face - to protect us.

The masks are hard, they are solid - conforming to our faces a little too well. We hide parts of us inside, behind the mask, smothering the softness. When we don't give these true parts of ourse...
