Now Open Your Heart And Fly

Posted by Mary D'Alba on Friday, June 11, 2010, In : Poetry
My dear, why are you crying?
Is the sadness bringing up fears?
I can't see your beautiful eyes
drowning in all those tears.

Yes, hurt is hurt
and you've had your share
cry it out, go ahead
but promise not to stay here.

It's a shame that they failed you,
they had no right to drop the ball
but it's time to stand up, my dear
and not allow them to let you fall

This too shall pass, trust me
it will pass with time and care
why stay in this place of sadness
and swallow the bitter taste o...

I Can Feel My Heart Soar

Posted by Mary D'Alba on Friday, June 4, 2010, In : Poetry

It's behind me,

I can't see it anymore.

I've pulled it off

and left it on the floor.

It was weighing me down

for way too long.

I don't know why I waited

I now feel very strong.

It was time to let it go

maybe I felt safe holding on

now that it's gone

I realize it I was wrong.

I wasn't really a part of me

I held on to it close

just like an old blanket

it was with me through highs and lows.

I have finally left it behind

put it down on the floor

and now that I am free

I ca...

We Are All The Same

Posted by Mary D'Alba on Friday, May 14, 2010, In : Poetry
We are all the same.
We experience the rainbow of feelings.
We struggle with life lessons.
We lift those when we can.

We are all the same.
We hurt and get hurt.
We mourn the deepest losses.
We hold on by our fingertips and survive.

We are all the same.
We celebrate great achievements.
We prove impossibility wrong.
We stand tall when we reach the top.

We are all the same.
We love, cherish and laugh.
We tell people how much we care.
We give when we have nothing left.

We ar...

Dreams

Posted by Mary D'Alba on Wednesday, May 12, 2010, In : Poetry

I had a dream once.

Not quite sure where it went -

one minute it was here

and the next it was gone.

I go about my life.

Every once in a while,

I think about that dream

that I once had.

I wonder if I had done this

or maybe if I had done that,

it could have been different.

Why do I still think about it?

Could it be that I

don't want to let it go?

Or, could it be that my soul,

my heart is gently reminding me

"Remember when you had

this dream?  This idea?"

My soul reminds me

that this drea...

There is Kindness

Posted by Mary D'Alba on Monday, May 10, 2010, In : Poetry

There is kindness in my words.

I use them with love and compassion.

I command open hearts and ears

because I lift people up to the stars.

There is kindness in my thoughts.

I don't stab people in the back.

I reframe my ideas to the positive.

I offer all love and gentleness.

There is kindness in my deeds.

I want to heal and offer support.

I go the extra mile to help a friend

and I expect nothing in return.

There is kindness in my heart.

It is something I express freely.

Just Quiet

Posted by Mary D'Alba on Friday, April 16, 2010, In : Poetry
Explore the silence.
Settle down.
No noise, no sounds.
Just quiet.
It punctuates the air.
It breathes across your skin.
It sits next to you.
It settles.
Just quiet.
What can you learn through it?
What tunnels can you explore?
What light can you see?
What truths can you not ignore?
Just quiet.
It doesn't show you anything
but what you need to see.
It connects you to your core
and your heart gets a chance to be heard.
Just quiet.
Don't fear what is to be discovered.
Turn down the ...

Can You See Me?

Posted by Mary D'Alba on Friday, March 26, 2010, In : Poetry
Can you see me?
The person that I really am,
The person that I want to be,
The real me and all of me.

Can you see me?
The talents that I have,
The love that I give,
The pain that I've felt.

Can you see me?
The lessons I need to learn,
The heart that wants to love,
The mind that is sharp and clear.

Can you see me?
I may only show you one side
But I am many rolled into one.
Are you ready to see more?

Can you see me?
I take off the costume
and I let my heart breathe.
Take a...
