School Days

Posted by Mary D'Alba on Tuesday, October 5, 2010, In : thoughts
I am learning,
every day I go to school.
Sometimes I pass the test
with flying colors,
sometimes I fail miserably.
But I go, I know that
life will give me the lessons
I need to grow.
Even though I want to
play hooky every once in a while,
school is necessary.
The grades don’t matter,
it’s what I learn and understand.
I move through the grades,
lower levels to higher levels,
kindergarten to Ph.D level.
Wow, there is so much I know
but yet so much to learn.

Ch-Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes

Posted by Mary D'Alba on Saturday, January 23, 2010, In : Articles

We're not good with change as humans.  We like things to be stable and when the unknown gets thrown into the mix, we struggle to find the solid ground again.

This is understandable.  We work so hard to get what we have, we want to keep our families in the lifestyle they are used to and we have our routine down pat.   So when things start shifting, we worry that life is never going to be stable again.  We focus so much on the uncertainty, we forget this is a part of life.  Life is always goi...

The journey is never without help.

You'll meet people along the way -

they may travel a short distance

or take the whole trip with you.

The journey is never without hope.

No matter what storm...

My four year old niece just started school.  She so far hasn't finished her lunch twice because she's been too busy chatting to a couple of playmates.  To everyone's relief, she likes it.

I started thinking about my own school experience and realized that my 20 year High School reunion is next year.  It seems like so long ago that I went through my formal education - back to school shopping, buying books at my college bookstore.  Fall officially started for me the first day back in school...
