Compassion Comes From The Heart

Posted by Mary D'Alba on Saturday, March 13, 2010, In : Poetry
Compassion comes from the heart.
It opens doors, it heals,
it holds someone in gentle hands
when they are vulnerable.
Compassion comes from the heart.
It brings people together in
impossible, tense situations.
It dissolves the biggest walls.
Compassion comes from the heart.
It can defy logic and reason
because it works on a higher level
and egos have to be quiet.
Compassion comes from the heart.
You may think there is none inside
but even the smallest glimmer
can be found shining so br...

In The Shadows

Posted by Mary D'Alba on Thursday, September 17, 2009, In : Spiritual

In the shadows

Hides the past

The things I thought I left behind

The people who impacted me

In the shadows

Hides my clear sight

The soft hue is fuzzy and grey

The confusion sets in

In the shadows

Hides my fears

The burden I no longer want to carry

But the shadows flicker with reminders

In the shadows

Hides my pain

A reminder of tragedy gone by

Threatening to show themselves in the light

In the shadows

I remind myself it isn't real

They are fading, fleeting

The Wall

Posted by Mary D'Alba on Monday, September 7, 2009, In : Spiritual

I ran head first

into the wall

started bashing my head against it

screaming for it to let me by

But it stood

Hard and strong

almost taunting me

daring me to surpass its strength

How can I?

I sat down, looking at the wall

it was so big, so high

there was no way I could get around it

I should just give up,

I think - accept the wall,

the block it provides

it's probably there for my best interest, right?

Maybe I can't handle what's on the other side

things are famili...

I remember the day

Posted by Mary D'Alba on Sunday, August 30, 2009, In : Spiritual

I remember the day
my heart was broken
it shattered into a million pieces
it took me time locate all the fragments

I remember the day
things happened that I didn't want
I cried a million tears
my eyes don't see the same anymore

I remember the day
it seemed like it would never get better
I crawled into bed
and thought I would lay there forever

I remember the day
that I had to move forward
I couldn't stay in bed anymore
I had to get up and see the sun

I remember the day
I started to get st...

What's In Store

Posted by Mary D'Alba on Friday, August 14, 2009, In : Spiritual

I closed my eyes because
there was no way I could see
the situation as it was
placed in front of me

I couldn't understand
why it would play out this way
what did I do to deserve this?
what price did I have to pay?

If I hear lesson learning
one more time I'll scream
there is no way it can't be messy
this break that I must deem

It's so hard to let it go
it's stuck to me like glue
or is it? Am I afraid?
My heart tells me it's overdue

So to you - doubts, fears,
terrors, sadness, hurt, pain,

Ending the Suffering

Posted by Mary D'Alba on Saturday, August 8, 2009, In : Spiritual

There is not meant to be suffering,
only happiness and peace.
We create the suffering in our lives
with expectations, disappointments, upsets.

We're told it's not meant to be this way.
Sure, that could be true.
But how do we as spiritual beings in human bodies
live this day to day?

We fall into the trap of the illusion.
The world we think that we know.
The life that we have to build and create.
The expectations that we and others set.

It's not meant to be a rat race.
We're not supposed to ...
