We start from the beginning
small and learning
trying to grow and figure out
our way to the sunlight

The dirt is so warm
and also cooling
it stores our roots
those things that build us

But we need care
water, sunlight, nutrients
our development is slow but steady
we learn as we grow

Now we change
stem, leaves and brightness
we're so green and bright
we seem the same but are unique

Rain will come and go
Sun will dry us off
We deal with light ...

Don't worry about who is wrong

or who happens to be right.

Give the gift of letting go.

Let forgiveness be your guide.

Don't chain yourself to the past.

Let yourself be free of the thoughts.

Give the gift of peace.

A shift in thought can

make the situation different.

Give the gift of clear vision.

I get knocked down.
I am shocked, stunned,
my hands are bruised,
but I struggle to my feet.

I get knocked down.
I am hurt, crying,
my body is weary,
but I claw my way back.

I get knocked down.
I am angry, gritting my teeth,
my back is strained,
but I pull myself up.

I get knocked down.
I am defensive, ready to fight,
my legs are sore,
but I won't stay down.

I get knocked down.
I am peaceful, graceful,
my body is solid,
and I rise to my strength.

I watched the Sun go down
the light was fading and I felt my fear
It was now darkness
I never thought I'd see the light again
It seemed to take so long
for the brightness to come back
I saw flickers in the shadows
but never a full fledged light
and I thought the light had left me
I could hear nothing
it was so quiet
it was like the earth had abandoned me
I was alone, dark, quiet,

You still fight when exhausted.

I'm already at the bottom

I look up, see the light

how do I get out of here?

the shovel is not going to help

I wonder why I thought

it was best to keep digging

did I want to be hidden?

did I want someone to not find me?

But now that I am here

I feel no better, the perspective is darker

There has been no improvement

actually, things have gotten worse

So now I have to find a way out

I have to climb back up to the top

and as much work as it took to go down
