Teaching new tricks?

I hear the phrase"you can't teach an old dog new tricks" when referring to people who don't want to change or learn something new.
I have to wonder why not?
I know when I pick up a book or take a class, I can feel my mind opening.  I look at things differently.  My collective knowledge is now expanded with this new information and I might change my thoughts on a thing or two.

Many people, though, think that they can't learn anything new.  That they are too set in their ways , too "old" or just don't have the time.
However, investing in new ideas and concepts can create experiences that change things for you.  It may just be a few hours of reading or taking a short class but that time invested changes you.
It takes a commitment to invest in you.  Are you worth it?
So, take sometimes to learn some new tricks.  You may be surprised at how you look at or handle things differently.
