Finally those words sunk in
I can feel them in my bones
I heard all of the syllables
and the soothing, caring tones
I haven't been treating myself very well
this I finally figured out
I know there were times I was frustrating
I knew you had your doubts
But I had to learn it on my own
no matter how hard of a lesson it may have been
I know you were ready to give up
you thought it just wouldn't sink in
It's important to me that you know
all those talks meant something to me
I may have seemed stubborn and bleak
but you guided me through the rough sea
So thank you, thank you for your voice
thank you for holding on
I've seen the truth, all the words make sense
and you gave me a foundation to build upon
You held on tight, held onto me strong
kept my head above the fray
I just want you to know that you are my angel
and am thankful for you each and every day
