Mercury Retrograde - June 7 to July 1

It’s that time of year, Mercury is going Retrograde. From June 7th to July 1st get ready to double check your communications and mechanical items because Mercury Retrograde is known to influence them in a challenging way.

Mercury is going Retrograde in Cancer during this time. If you know your Natal Chart, watch where Mercury moves during that time. Where it is in your chart will be activated by this transit.

If you don’t know your Mercury in your Natal Chart, never fear. Here are the general effects of Mercury Retrograde:

Communications are challenging:
Emails get lost, meetings are rescheduled or moved, mail gets rerouted, orders are delayed or missing pieces, cell phones calls are dropped and much more around communication. In other words, double and triple check any communications that you send are not only received by the person but understood. Mercury Retrograde also muddles the message so what is communicated may get misunderstood or misinterpreted.

Mechanics are not running as well:
Computers crash, car troubles, cell phones vibrate when they are supposed to ring, tablets get affected and other mechanical troubles. If you need to do work on something mechanical, do it now before you are forced to do it. Back up your computer files, save your e-mails, re-read any comunications you send out.

Travel could get delayed:
Since much travel is reliant on mechanics, you may find flights are delayed or train trips are canceled. Make sure to call the airport or whatever route you are traveling to confirm plans. Give yourself extra time to make it to your destination.

Don’t make it permanent (if you can):
Anything you try to make permanent during Mercury Retrograde may not stay that way. Or it may not be exactly what you think it is after you sign on the dotted line. Do not sign contracts, get married, take a new job or buy a car, for example. If you feel the need to or can’t reschedule what you’re trying to do, make sure to read the fine print, get a second opinion and/or make sure to ask a lot of questions so you know exactly what you’re getting into. Sometimes we can’t postpone important decisions during Mercury Retrograde – just be as informed as you can.

Now the good news:

Mercury Retrograde can help you revisit old projects or reconnect with an old friend. You may find that things from the past pop up and you’re able to take a second look. This is a good time for introspection – again, not starting something new – so take a look at that old project you never finished and start it up again. Inner work is great during this time, especially with Mercury  being in the sign of Cancer.  It may be time to look inside your own shell. Use modalities such as Meditation, healing work, journaling – anything that creates a journey inside because Mercury Retrograde forces you to slow down. So take your time over those three weeks. You may find yourself mumbling “Argh, Mercury Retrograde” and laugh when you realize that you know a bit about astrology!
