With 2013 here, I am working on doing things in
my life differently. No resolutions, just making improvements that I
think need to be made.
One of my improvements is to be more careful of
my words. I speaks before I think. I like to blame in on the
Sagittarius in me - we're known to be blunt. However, that doesn't mean
it has to stay that way, though it would be much easier to keep it and blame it
on my astrological sign.
It's funny how when you make a decision, a

I have been looking for ways to be inspired and
make changes in 2013. One of the things that came up as a way to tap into
inspiration was working through the book "The Artist's Way" by Julia
Cameron. It's a book to help unleash creativity and since I have felt
blah in that realm, I have been working the book with some friends.
Once of the suggestions of the book is to write
"Morning Pages". It says to get up in the morning, grab your
coffee or tea and do a mind dump of writing for thre... Continue reading ...

Sometimes we say things that may hurt each
other. It may not be intentional but we feel the need to say what's on
our mind at the given moment. Is it necessary to tell someone what we
think about them or what they're doing, especially if they haven't asked?
There are times I have to bite my tongue
because, even though I have an opinion, it's not my place to put my thoughts on
someone else. It's not about me, it's about them and what they need.
Honesty is important but there comes ... Continue reading ...

I notice some of the most passionate comments I

forgive others because the person hurt the commenter very bad.
"There is no way I can forgive (my ex, my family, my boss, etc)."
This is completely understandable. How can
we possibly forgive someone that has done incredible hurt to us? It
seems counter-productive to what we should do, which is tear the person down
and hurt them millions of times worse than they hur... Continue reading ...

Strength. It's an interesting word.
Sometimes when I hear this word, it conjures up the image of a body builder who
can lift practically anything. There is also another kind of strength and
I think this is the one that is harder to find but stronger than the best
bodybuilder.
It's the strength we have inside of us to handle
situations that come our way. We never know what we are capable of

One of the most common phrases I say during a reading is
"Don't worry."
Then I get the look. A look that usually says
"Are you kidding me?"
I know it's easy to say that phrase. Because at that
point, I'm not in that situation to worry about it. It's also a pretty
easy phrase to throw out there, almost as easy as "Good Morning".
Instead of worrying, what if we transformed worry into
something different? What if it turns into something much more positive?
Is it possible?

This time of year usually makes me miss summer and the longer

our nights getting longer, I think about how the darkness can affect us.
And by darkness, I don't mean anything that is evil or sinister. It
is actually an opportunity to look at things differently because our sight and

One of my favorite movies is "Wanted" starring Angelina Jolie. It's an action movie, very heavy on the action aspects. It shows the transformation of one character, Wesley, as his life gets turned upside down when he learns, and ultimately embraces, who he truly is. There is a line from that movie that always sticks with me. In explaining why Fox (Angelina Jolie) joins "The Fraternity" of Assassins, she says to Wesley, "We don't know how far the ripples of our decisions go." We think ... Continue reading ...

Driving has been a different experience for me lately. I've been noticing a lot more instead of just having tunnel vision to my destination. Taking a look around while waiting at a stop light can be quite eye opening. As I was driving today, I pulled up to a four way intersection - the crossroads - and settled at the light. I saw someone about to take a left and then, at the last minute, she decided to go straight. I could see her brow squiggle, trying to figure out the best route to go. ... Continue reading ...

I happened to be watching "LA Ink" the other night with Kat Von D. She did a tattoo on a woman named "Miss Claire". It was a pretty interesting tattoo - a pocket watch with the time "Thirteen O’clock". The reason why Miss Claire did this tattoo was because she wanted it to represent that fact that she had wasted a lot of time waiting to do what she wanted to do in life. She kept saying "once I did this, I could do that". And finally, she realized that she was wasting time and it was ti... Continue reading ...

I was driving along with my mom today, heading to the mall to get our nails done. We happened to take a cut through to avoid the highway and I passed by an area that brought back a memory. Bear with me as I tell this story. When I was 16 and on my second to last driving lesson, I took a right at the corner of a busy intersection in Malden, MA. I was promptly greeted by a cruiser flying head on towards me. I hit the break the same time as the driving instructor did. He took the wheel f... Continue reading ...

Strength. It's an interesting word. Sometimes when I hear this word, it conjures up the image of a body builder who can lift practically anything. There is also another kind of strength and I think this is the one that is harder to find but stronger than the best bodybuilder. It's the strength we have inside of us to handle situations that come our way. We never know what we are capable of until we are faced with it but we surprise ourselves with will to tackle what we need to handle, no... Continue reading ...

One of my favorite cards in my tarot deck is the Wheel of Fortune. It is the one of the Major Arcana cards, which means it is a card that indicates an important life event. It is usually depicted as a wheel spinning around. The Wheel of Fortune means the destiny wheel is constantly turning and, if we don’t like what is happening, we should wait because change will come around. Many people think Karma is cause and effect. For example, if I do something “good”, good comes back to me. ... Continue reading ...

Tonight, myself and several wonderful mediums and psychics went to dinner. While there, we got into a discussion with our waitress about mediumship and she had a concern that seems to be on the mind of a lot of people when discussing folks that have passed over.
She was afraid the spirit on the other side was mad at her.
While I don't want to give the specifics of the story, she was afraid that one particular person was going to be angry about a situation. She was hesitant to get a readi... Continue reading ...
The Mask

There is a mask that we show to the world. We might quite possibly have several. There is our work mask, our family mask, our friends' masks - different sizes, shapes, construction, moldings. We create them to place over the softness and vulnerable sides of ourselves - our true face - to protect us.
The masks are hard, they are solid - conforming to our faces a little too well. We hide parts of us inside, behind the mask, smothering the softness. When we don't give these true part... Continue reading ...
Drama Is Thy Blanket
Posted by Mary D'Alba on Friday, March 4, 2011,
I was having a conversation with a friend tonight and we were talking about how some people just seem to thrive on drama. Anytime you talk with them, they have a story about what's wrong, what's happened, who wronged them, why it happened and how they can't do anything about it right now.
So as we were discussing this, I said, "Well, some people just love their drama, it's like a warm blanket they wrap themselves in and they think it's comfortable."
To which she said, "Well, drama ... Continue reading ...
Your Work

I had dinner with my cousin the other night. It was so nice to catch up with her. We have a wonderful relationship where we can talk, laugh and cry about anything.
Somewhere in our conversation, we started talking about the difference between jobs and our work. Most people have a job. This is something that we need to have to have to pay the bills. It can be good or bad. It could even be something we could be very good at day-to-day but chances are it's not what we really want to be do... Continue reading ...
Setting Intentions

Intent is one of those terms we hear a lot in the crime and punishment shows. "What was his/her intent?"
In the spiritual sense, intent can be setting an idea before you do something such as magick, a reiki treatment, a reading, whatever. This can actually be expanded to your day to day life, not just the spiritual realm.
For example, when you wake up in the morning, you can set an intention of having a great day. Or, if you're going into a meeting, you can set the intention... Continue reading ...
Turn Down the Negative Volume

As I was talking to a friend the other night, she seemed to be going through a hard time. She was saying all kinds of negative things about herself. I said to her "There are plenty of people in line ready to beat you up - why do you want to be at the front of the line?"
If you think about it, when we go throughout our day, we do all kinds of things. We get ready to leave the house, we design projects, we interact with all kinds of people, we do work, we drop the ball, we praise, we hu... Continue reading ...
Standing in the Sun

The rain falls on me,
I feel the drops,
stinging my skin,
the wet rain reminds
me of my wet tears.
Dripping, soaking me.
Tearing me to the core,
even though soft.
The rain doesn't let up
I try to shield myself
but the umbrella
flies away like a bird,
I feel the rain again.
It isn't stopping.
It drives harder,
it pounds me until
there is not a drop of dry left.
I shiver but I then realize
I'm still standing.
The rain... Continue reading ...
What Tomorrow Brings
Posted by Mary D'Alba on Thursday, February 24, 2011,
There is plenty of time that's what I think I'll put off 'til tomorrow what I can do today
Days and months pass things grow and change tomorrow is still there today is too busy
The years, where do they go? wow, time has flown tomorrow holds my future today has too many decisions
I put it off, ignore it make it a "future task" on the task list meanwhile, it waits for my attention pleading for me to notice it
Is it fear, doubt, voices from the past that make me put it off if only I had more time, I ... ? Continue reading ...

~One from the archives. Enjoy!~
I often wonder why things happen the way they do. Watching the news can induce depression in 30 minutes or less.
The world can be full of cruel, nasty people and events. We could sink down into the pit of despair very easily and walk around with the burden of the desperate energy of the world.
But then I think about hope. Hope for the world to change and the potential for humans to change.
A friend of mine just stepped into a new cha... Continue reading ...
Believe in your Magic

You have to believe
in your magic.
It's who you are,
it oozes from your pores,
it's the glow of your being.
It's your magic,
and only yours.
You can share it
leaving your good mojo
with people.
Because it's that magic,
that beautiful connection
to Spirit and light,
that makes it so powerful.
It can never fail,
it can't be drawn away,
it can't be hidden
or ignored anymore.
Your magic is beyond explanation.
It is just you and who you are,
what you do and how you smile.... Continue reading ...
The Wings of an Angel

The Wings of an Angel
so light but they can carry anything
They are deceiving -
I thought they were just fluffy
but I was wrong.
The wings lift me up
so very high so I can
see things differently.
I look around and
see from up high
the beauty of the sky,
the air so clean, crisp,
the energy being so light,
not dense like below.
I wonder if I made all
my decisions from here
how would that be?
It's easy.
I just need to grab the
Wings of An Angel
and fly on by.

Life, As We Know It

I was talking to my mom last night and she was relaying a conversation she was having with a friend. Mom is a "Senior" - I like to refer to her as a "Crone" - as she said something that really struck me.
Her friend said to her "Looking back on her life, I never expected to end up here." Mom said to her "I don't think anyone expects to end up where we do."
It made me pause. Do any of us ever expect to end up where we do in life? Somehow, our plans get derailed or changed, no ma... ? Continue reading ...

It starts with me

A strong will
A heart that's open
It starts with me

The impact I hope to make on others
The life I wish to have
It starts with me
The people I have in my life
The experiences I draw in
The way I handle those people and experiences
It starts with me

how I chose to love
how I chose dream
how I chose to fly

"If I was just...."

I recently did a reading for
someone who is one of my favorite clients. She's fun, outgoing and has a
lot going for her. The place she feels she is lacking is in a
relationship so the last couple of readings we've had is around that
topic.
I tuned into the most recent
guy she had gone out on a date with and he didn't seem like he was for
her. He wasn't a dysfunctional person or a person with a ton of
baggage, he just wasn't for her.
Then I heard something from
Spirit that seemed... Continue reading ...
The Spiritual Playground

When working with my students, we talk about many things that they are going through in their spiritual development.
One of the reoccurring things I
hear is something that sounds like this - "I am at a standstill. I
can't hear/see/know Spirit like I used to. It's really frustrating.
Maybe I'm not cut out for this." Of course it's not true but when it
happens, we wonder why all of a sudden, it seems like we've lost ground
in all the work we've done.
This is something I've

Trusting The Universe

~One from the archives. Enjoy!~
It's hard for me to trust, even the Universe.
I have been reading a lot of books lately about
the Law of Attraction. I've had my ups and downs with it. There are
days that I truly, deeply believe it. And then...there are other times
that I wish I never read these books and am ready to throw them off my balcony.
But today was an interesting day for the Law of
Attraction. I wonder if the Universe is trying to tell me to hang
in there.

Powerful

Power comes in all shapes and sizes
in a baby’s cry
and a quiet elder’s dignity.
It doesn’t have to be misused
It can be wielded for inspiration
and holding others up.
Power radiates from the heart
drips from the soul,
shines from the eyes.
You can’t hide when you are
a powerful beacon and leader.
Believe in your power, it is real.
So, move forward in your power,
your path demands it.
Strength, movement, creation,
now is your time to seize it.
Powerful being, that is y... Continue reading ...

Reach out
and grab the hands of the one you love
tell them how much you care
and don't be afraid to share

let them feel a touch so tender

and help someone to their feet
hold them up, brush off the dirt
and hug away the hurt
Reach out
and take a chance even when scared
