Teaching New Tricks?

I hear the phrase "you can't teach an old dog new tricks" when referring to people who don't want to change or learn something new.
I have to wonder why not?
I know when I pick up a book or take a class, I can feel my mind opening.  I look at things differently.  My collective knowledge is now expanded with this new information and I might change my thoughts on a thing or two.

Many people, though, think that they can't learn anything new.  That they are too set in their ways, too "old" or just don't have the time.
However, investing in new ideas and concepts can create experiences that change things for you.  It may just be a few hours of reading or taking a short class but that time invested changes you.
It takes a commitment to invest in you.  Are you worth it?
So, take sometimes to learn some new tricks.  You may be surprised at how you look at or handle things differently.
